It's on your mind 24-7. You can't stop thinking or talking about how badly you would love to achieve that fitness goal. It's been months, maybe years that you have been imagining how amazing it would feel to be fitter, healthier and stronger. You are not alone!! One of my closest friends inspired this blog by questions she asked me that I am certain other women are struggling with!
So let's get straight into it and make it as direct as possible so you can immediately take action towards your fitness goals. First question she asked was how to stay motivated to go to the gym when you would rather do anything else. The answer: it's all in your mentality. In other words, you will never WANT to go to the gym (Yes, a few of us do actually get excited to go and you may get there too), but you need to master the idea of doing what you know you NEED to vs. doing what you FEEL like. I feel like watching reality shows and sitting on my comfy couch quite often, but I literally never do that because it does not support my goals. The actions you take daily either support your goals and dreams or they do not. Don't do things based on your feelings in that moment, do things based on your goals and priorities. Overcoming your feelings and taking action towards your goals is the biggest step towards achieving ANY desirable outcome.
Also, I do not allow myself any time to talk myself out of going to the gym. The second I hear that voice in my head say, "I'm too tired" or "It's too late now", is when I immediately put my shoes on and RUN to wherever I am working out. Never listen to that voice. You know you need to work out, don't accept any excuses from the chatter in your mind.
Next, set yourself up for success! You are not going to accidentally achieve your goals. It takes planning and being creative. For example, you need to schedule your work outs during times that will work FOR you not against you! If you are not a morning person, why are you trying to set your alarm at 5am for your morning run!? Or if you hate the going to the gym, you always have and you know this, why are you trying to force yourself to go there 5 days a week!? Plan your workouts at times you know will work for you and stay committed to that time frame each day to establish a habit. I have two small boys at home, so it's not reasonable for me to go to a gym each day. So I have set myself up for success at home! I preplan all of my workouts, invested in weights, bands and other fun fitness equipment that I enjoy using daily! You can get very creative working out at home (even small spaces!), so no more excuses! Another great question she asked me was how I get through cardio. You literally have no idea how excited I am to answer this one because I am confident that I have mastered this! Yes, you can too! First, you NEED TO MIX IT UP! You can't run on the treadmill every day on the same speed for the same distance like a rat stuck on a wheel! Change it up! Sprint, inclines, speed walk, jog! Try new machines, go outside one day then use your bike the next....you get it! Change it up! I personally love sprint intervals and the stair climber but I am always changing the time and my speed so I don't get bored AND so my body is always guessing which is very effective for weight loss! Lastly on cardio: music, podcasts, YouTube episodes etc.!! I literally never get bored doing cardio because I also use it as an opportunity to catch up with shows or listen to my all-time favorite songs!! Set yourself up for success!

Get clear on your goals and your WHY. This will be your driving force. Make them specific and tell your friends and family for more accountability! I am here to support you!
